A letter from Phil Bolger the designer of the 31' Egg Harbor

Dear Mr Pender,
We furnished the plans for the Egg Harbor 31 in may 1957. These plans are on file as designed, there were detailed modifications and no plans of those are available.
There are six 24"x34" drawings. If they are wanted to build a boat, they are available for $500.00. We would supply general arrangement contact prints for $50.00.

We enclosed a copy of a photo of the prototype on trials. She went, and they still go very well if not overloaded. More recent designs had to be filled out to carry tuna tower etc; they are not as smooth in a head sea.

The prototype was black with cream house tops and bright coamings. I understand that 110 of them were built before they changed to the (very nice) Stadel designed 36 footer. One was built here in 1974 with different superstructure and single turbo-charged Ford diesel with which she was said to make 20 knots +. As I judge you testify, they were very well built.
